Latest Beauty Buys ( a.k.a - Huge Haul!)

Argh, damn them brush bristles sticking the other way, how dare you ruin the photos! Please try and ignore those and focus on the fact, that I may have gone a bit spend crazy over the past few weeks and to be truly honest with you...this isn't even all of it! I've also purchased some products from the Clarins Sun Care Range for my holiday in June, some Benefit for my mum, as well as some of those unglamourous essentials. So lets have a look at what I've got here...

I've been having a bit of a lip product moment recently, investing in 4 lip colours to add to my ever growing collection, Clinique Lip Pop in Rebel & Blush, Clinique Lip Lacquer in Cocoa Pop and lastly the Lily Pebbles enabled purchased on MAC Mehr lipstick- MAC lipstick collection coming soon...

The Clinique All About Shadow in Nude Rose, is a gorgeous matte cool pinky brown shade, amazing washed all over the lid as a base product or used through the socket to define the crease more.

Yeah, I know...another Clinique product, but the launch of their new Foundation Buff Brush, has been a long time coming and has definitely bought them up to date on makeup tools for sure! You can see me rave about it more here.

Every year Clarins bring out a summer collection, consisting always of a new bronzer and this year is no exception. They've released the Summer Bronzing & Blush Compact. This contains three shades of bronze, one with a slight shimmer, with a blush type shade in the centre. I have to use a duo fibre brush with this one, as its highly pigmented, more so than last years one, and I can sometimes end up resembling an umpa-lumpa!

Summer is quickly approaching and my DiorSkin BB Cream is running seriously low, so I decided to mix it up a bit and give the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue a go, as I've read some outstanding reviews. On first impressions, its very light in coverage and does make my face a little shiny throughout the day. I'm not sure it's living up to the hype just yet for me.

The Eccentric Molecules 01 fragrance has been on my radar for years now, one of those products you really want to try but yet haven't got around to just adding it to your basket, well after reading more reviews I got it. I only picked up the small travel size. Have I had men chasing me down the street? NOPE! Nobody can even smell it on me, though I think it smells like fresh washing.

My second scent of this very long haul & hopefully my last purchase for a while, that won't last, is the Carolina Herrera 212 VIP Wild Party spring/summer fragrance. Its light, its fresh, its sweet, everything I love for the summer time really. It is limited edition, so you will have to be quick to grab this one, but couldn't recommend it more, go on, go give it a sniff!

Base Brushes: My Top 5 Faves

I won't pretend for one minute all of these are freshly washed...life problems, but its because these 5 brushes are the ones I reach for time and time again. Soft, buffy, foundation brush goodness. So here's a run down of my top 5 base brush faves;

The Real Techniques Expert Face Brush is my most long standing of the bunch, I have 2 or 3 of these in my ridiculous collection and I honestly think it will be there for many years to come. It buffs foundation in enough for it to be well blended but still have good coverage and for the price tag its a great one for you makeup beginners. -£9.99

Another RT brush is the Real Techniques Sculpting Brush, the name suggests 'sculpting' but I've never used it for contouring, its to dense, I have always used it to get full kick arse coverage from my foundation. I tend to apply my base in long strokes with this brush, then go in a buff it like a gooden' and I haven't yet found a foundation that this doesn't work amazingly with. I originally got this shipped in from the US but its now stocked nationally. -£9.99

Talking of the US, I made the plunge and made my first ever Sephora order last year and I knew the Sephora Pro Airbrush #55 Brush had to go straight in my basket, try saying that without that viral video voice-haha! This brush is super duper soft and again buffs foundation in like a dream (I'm sensing a theme here) I would say though, this shears foundation out, so makes full coverage bases a lot lighter on the finish, which is when I tend to reach for it most, when I want that softer application. For more fresher make up days. -$34 around £23.50

Now if you want full on, like proper full on coverage from your base, then look no further than the Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face Brush, it blends foundation into the skin, to make it look like you have no make up on but yet you look flawless. Downside....takes absolutely ages to dry after cleaning it!! -£31

Last but certainly not least and my newest brush & probably my favourite of the 5 is the new Clinique Foundation Buff Brush. Oh my, what a babe! Its completely versatile, you can use it for liquids and powders. It blends all products seamlessly into the skin, its sooooo soft and creates an amazing finish to the skin. Its densely packed at the bottom to hold the product yet has duo fibre tips to effortless buff what ever product you are using. A serious must buy...like seriously! -£28

The Cult Beauty Box by Anna & Lily

Did I need it? No. Did I want it? ABSOLUTELY! Soon as I saw Anna & Lily's announcement about their collab with Cult Beauty, I knew the box would be a good one, packed full with kick arse products & brands. Though I didn't buy it straight away, the price put me off...£85 seemed a lot of money to drop on a beauty box, but once you break it down, its actually a pretty good buy with a huge saving of 43%, making the worth around £120.

The box contains 5 full sized products a 2 (generously sized) sample sizes.

The Wet Brush is my go-to hair brush, I think this may be my forth or fifth one & I prefer it to any other brush for knots. I've given the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel a go once, my first impression? Wasn't blown away but I did have very full eye makeup on, I think this may work better as a second cleanse or even a morning cleanse, does smell great though!

I was drawn to buying the box the most because of the generous size of the Sunday Riley Luna Oil, a product I wanted to get my hands on but don't want to spend a bomb on trying it to then hate it. Well I've given it a go and yes I did resemble a smurf for 5 minutes but once its settled into the skin the 'smurfness' disappears (doesn't stain pillows either) the next morning my skin was very radiant and soft. Would I fork out for the full size? Hmm, not sure, I will keep you updated.

The box also contains a full sized Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist, which I think will be awesome for summer mornings to refresh the face before makeup. I'm also excited to try the BECCA Backlight Priming Filter, sample size, I want to try mixing it with fuller coverage foundations that I find quite flat, like the Estee Lauder Double Wear. Liquid eyeliner scares me a bit, so I'm not sure if the Stila Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner will get used, so thats the only product that may find a new home.

As soon as I opened the box, the first thing I got out was the Yu Ling Jade Facial Roller. I don't know if my box was just cold, but the roller was ice cold and I literally walked around for a good 10 minutes just rolling it across my face, it feels amazing. I suffer with stress headaches, so I think I may pop this in the fridge to help soothe those, I just want it with me all of the time!!

Overall I am pretty impressed, the packaging of the box is gorgeous, with the marble and gold detailing, as well as the size of the box, it will be great as storage. Delivery was pretty quick, I got it within a week of ordering and there was a bank holiday. If you do want one of these, you best be super quick and they are limited edition, here is a link. I'm super happy and proud of Anna & Lily on this collaboration and I look forward to seeing what they do next. Well done ladies!!

La Roche-Posay Micellar Water Gel & Effaclar K+

La Roche-Posay is a brand I seem to drop in and out of and over the years I've tried a good variety of their products, from the Effaclar Duo, the Serozinc to their sun care but the latest two products I've tried from the brand have blown me away.

The new La Roche-Posay Micellar Water Gel is a cleanser formulated with Thermal Spring Water & Micellar water to remove makeup and impurities without stripping the skin. The texture is so unusual, its like a very watery gel and its almost undetectable on the skin. I've been using this as my morning cleanser with my Clinique Sonic Brush and I can't even explain how soft my skin feels afterwards. Its left feeling smooth and radiant which means my makeup is going on so much better.

When I first ever tried the Effaclar Duo, is wasn't for me, so when I first tried the Effaclar K+ I was sceptical. I applied this before my evening moisturiser, almost as you would a serum. In the morning my skin felt so incredibly soft, like I can't even explain it. The Effaclar K+ is designed fir oily, blemish prone skin, even though I'm not a massive sufferer of blemish, I did find this help with my oiliness once I started using it in the morning as well as the evening.

I was so impressed with the Effaclar K+ I asked my mum to try it as she's suffered for years with congestion spots & blackheads are her hair line, forehead and temple area, I could kick myself for not taking a before picture, in just 3 weeks they have reduced by a good 70-80% and for years we've tried to find something to clear it, well we've found the one. I think this will now become a solid product in her skincare routine. Her skin overall has improved in texture and is a lot more radiant. The only thing I would warn you of, is the smell, it does have quite a strong chemical smell, but once moisturiser is applied over it, you can no longer smell it.

La Roche-Posay is definitely getting a big thumbs up from me and my mum this time around. I definitely must pick up a new Serozinc now I've mentioned it...I really did like it and now its in the UK, there is nothing to stop me now, right?!

With summer quickly approaching, it means getting those, now scaly and very pale, legs out. So when this ROGER & GALLET Body Balm arrived in my post box I was overjoyed. This body balm has really been hitting the spot to rehydrate my skin.

There are three distinctive body balms in this new range; Replenishing, Resorting and Revitalising. I have the Fleur d'osmanthus Precious Revitalising Balm, the balm smells incredible!!!!! It contains floral notes combined with mandarin and grapefruit, so it has this real zesty edge to it and  feels incredibly uplifting, especially in the mornings and more importantly it leaves my skin feeling so silky and smooth, almost buttery, its divine.

All the of the body balms contain Shea Butter, Glycerin & Hyaluronic Acid, which we all know is great for our facial skin, so great if you have that dehydrated skin type. The balms are also rich in Omega 3, 6 & 9 to help strengthen the skins natural barrier. I mean what more could you want from a body moisturiser really?

If you are also a fan of the Clarins Radiance Booster drops, these work amazingly well with the Revitalising Balm, as there is no fake tan smell and you're skin glows whilst being super soft. Amazing combination, 100% recommend giving it a go!

My Current Everyday Makeup Routine

We all have days, weeks or months were we use the same products on our face consistently, and right now that's what I've been doing. I would say the last solid 2/3 weeks I've used nothing but this choice of products and I just can't get enough!

For base I've invested in the very pricey Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation & honestly, I'm still not 100% sure how I feel, I'm being persistent with it and will keep you updated on this. Concealer of the moment is the Clinique Line Smoothing Concealer in 02 Light, followed by the Clinique Almost Powder SPF15 in 03 Light.

The Lorac Pro Palette hasn't left my side since I got it last September, its the best eyeshadow palette I've ever used, the matte shades are just amazing. If you can get hold of one, get it!!! I've been then following with the Estee Lauder Little Black Primer, topped with MaxFactors new mascara launch, the Voluptuous False Lash Effect, its got a huge plastic wand, that grips every eyelash for extreme volume yet natural separated lashes, I've been really enjoying it & paired with the primer, it lasts all day without flaking or smudging.

The last 4 make up items, are solid staples, I can't remember the last time I didn't use them, the Clinique Superfine Brow Pencil in 02 Soft Brown, Clinique Just Browsing Brow Mousse, Clinique Sculptionary Cheek Palette in Defining Roses for blush & the Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Natural Light, they just all add the finishing touches to my everyday make up routine.

If you want a full review on that Tom Ford foundation, let me know in the comments below.

Some February Beauty Purchases

Cannot believe I forgot to even write a post on this, everybody loves a good haul post right?!?

Lets chat Clinique first, as this is the main bulk of it, I re-purchased 2 of my favourite skincare products, the Clinique Clarifying Lotion (3) & Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel. I am a great lover of the 3-Step cleansing system from Clinique, I talk more about this here, I've used it continuously for 2 years now and nothing compares to how my skin looks after.

I also decided to pick up 2 new things from the brand, the Sculptwear Contouring Massage Cream Mask and matching Sonic Massaging Treatment Applicator, this launched exclusively to John Lewis & Fenwicks and will be out nationally in April time I believe. I will keep you updated on what this is like.

Lastly from Clinique I picked up their Powder Foundation Brush, which is so soft and so multi-functional!! I use it for powder, bronzer, blusher and highlight, I could just walk around stroking my face with it to be honest. Give it a feel nice time you're near a Clinique Counter.

My last two purchases come from Estee Lauder & Bobbi Brown, after getting the Estee Lauder Little Black Primer in a E.L christmas cracker, I needed the full size in my life! It holds my straight, elephant eyelashes in a curl and makes any mascara waterproof, what more is there to love?

After watching the gorgeous Chloe Morello use the white Bobbi Brown Retouching Powder in a video, I decided to do a bit more research and after much thought, I decided on the yellow tone. I've been using this to set concealer and it works brilliantly, stops creasing and just generally brightens those eye bags.

What have you purchased recently??

Fitness Update #1

Fitness update

So as I mentioned in Sunday's blog post, today I had my first proper session with my Personal Trainer Jane and oh my...it was HARD!!

We done a mix of Stretching, Suspension Training, Pilates & Yoga, really focusing on my core. I really want to cover that suspension training, basically its two ropes/ straps hanging from the ceiling and you use it to do pull ups and press ups and can I just say its the hardest thing I've ever done!!! We done a type of lunge where I had to push myself back up to a standing position...I thought my arms may snap, I had no idea I was so weak! Having had a Breast Augmentation, my chest muscle has been weakened but I cannot wait to see my strength grow back to what it was before. Another great moment for me, is stepping on the scales to find I've lost 4.5lb since Sunday & I put this purely down to cutting out bread, feeling super proud that I manage to stick to it haha!

I had my workout at 11am this morning and now its nearly 6pm, I've moaned nearly all day about how much I ache, my hips especially, we've discovered a slight alignment issue with them so the muscle isn't great around my joints, but I've been given exercises by Jane to do at home as much as I can to really stretch out that area and make it less painful.

I definitely enjoyed coming home and having a huge bacon, mushroom, tomato and cheese omelette followed by a very relaxing bath.

Overall I'm really positive and still very motivated to shed to weight in a very controlled and healthy way. Next up this week is a full Pilate's class on Thursday night, I won't bore you with a full post on this but keep an eye out on my Twitter to find out how it goes.
